at about 15:9.26, I ate a chocolate pie (those small ones) during a Chinese literature class, got nearly choked, and had to leave the classroom to search for water… Thank you to my teacher for not being too troubled by my absurd neediness.

I rote memorised the Gaussian distribution’s pdf.

MIT rejection but it was at least accompanied by tasty lunch.

Nothing really happened. Did number theory homework.

We discussed Hawking radiation in the GR professor’s office hour, about half a day before the news that Stephen Hawking himself passed away.

I remember sitting at New Sequoia’s dining table, facing south and wanting to freeze more of that moment with me. For a while, I was telling my friends via group chats, and thinking to myself that by missing Cambridge and Caltech, I did miss meeting Hawking for good.

As it washes away, in the end, nothing felt better than being part of an inquisitive community.
