FWPhys LUX Gallery 03

If the first two galleries (2017-2020, 2020-2022) represented early tweaks and tryouts—both with my gear and myself—to determine whether photography would become a lifelong hobby, then the past two years mark the next stage of my journey. During this time, I took online lessons, studied (and imitated) textbook examples, completed a few commercial photo jobs, contributed to exhibitions, and actively sought feedback.

Concurrently, I rekindled my use of an Instagram photo feed, @fwphys.lux. Initially envisioned as a static set of images with minimal social interactions (perhaps also for courtship…), it quickly evolved into a portal through which I keep in touch with new and old academic friends as I began attending conferences. LUX Hashtags were also implemented, so browsing according to themes also became feasible.

I believe it is meaningful for me to contemplate the future direction of my online galleries. Should it feature bigger, less compressed versions of images already on Instagram? Absolutely. Improved categorization and a better browsing experience? That’s happening too. Through my connections with local (New Zealand) artist organizations, a print version of this photo set might even appear in the near future.

Additionally, there are individual notes and commentaries for some of the works on display. These won’t be mere recounts in time, but creative notes focusing on techniques, thought processes, and the fulfillment of my vision (if any).

Images are currently provided in an assorted order.
